Cedillo to Open Renovated Mac Arthur Park Synthetic Sports Field
Adding to the Visioning MacArthur Park Master Plan

Los Angeles—Councilmember Cedillo will cut the ribbon on the newly installed synthetic sports field at MacArthur Park. This project included the removal and replacement of the approximately 42,700 square feet of synthetic meadow located on the north side of MacArthur Park. Specifically, the project proposed to remove the existing synthetic turf, infill and underlayment from site; excavate and compact sub soil to grades, contours, and levels; excavate grade and compact subgrade for synthetic area and new areas, and storm system; re-spread topsoil and fine grade in the areas outside the playing area where the existing conditions have been altered; and replace the turf area and sub drainage system.

This project replaced the existing synthetic “Meadow” with a certified sports field. Funding was sought by Councilmember Cedillo’s Office from Quimby Fees in the amount of $400,000.
