Cedillo to Launch ‘ICE Out of CD1’ Campaign Tomorrow
Organizes community around the Romulo Avelica-Gonzalez case

Los Angeles—Councilmember Cedillo will launch the ‘ICE Out of CD1’ campaign in Highland Park tomorrow, down the street from the school where Romulo Avelica-Gonzalez was dropping off his daughter when he was detained by ICE agents.

This case has created waves in communities across the country and has inspired us to build a coordinated response. It is with that thought in mind that the inaugural event of the #ICEoutofCD1 Coalition came together. Thanks to our united efforts, the City Attorney vacated Romulo’s conviction of stolen property, clearing the way for his release.

This event will consist of a legal and resource fair and a visit from the Avelica family.
