From 'One Bill Gil' to '1 Mil Gil': Celebrating 1 Million AB60 Licenses

Los Angeles—Councilmember Cedillo will shed the nickname he acquired while fighting for the AB60 Driver’s License legislation (One Bill Gil), and become ‘1 Mil Gil,’ in honor of the 1 million AB60 driver’s licenses issued since the legislation went into effect in 2015. A 2017 Stanford study proved what we already knew, that issuing driver's licenses to undocumented motorists improves traffic safety. AB60 licenses were issued in droves as soon as the law went into effect, and have remained steady at about 10,000 per month. Just last week, DMV announced that we hit the 1 million mark.
