Cedillo Passes Resolution to Dump Trump
Asks the City to Divest from Donald Trump, The Trump Organization and Affiliates

Los Angeles—The Los Angeles City Council approved a resolution today by Councilmember Cedillo, instructing the City to divest from Donald Trump, The Trump Organization and any affiliated entities which promote racist rhetoric against immigrant families.

“This Presidential campaign has given life to the harmful rhetoric that some of us have spent our entire career fighting against. The anti-immigrant hysteria has historically led to some of the darkest days for California, including the Mexican Repatriation, Proposition 187, and even a recent increase in hate crimes against Latinos in Los Angeles County,” stated Councilmember Gil Cedillo.

“It is important that the City of Los Angeles take a stand, against anyone, who incites hate, discrimination, and intolerance. It is our responsibility to take a stand and make a statement. We want to be on the right side of history. We are a City that is inclusive, tolerant, and welcoming of all races, religions, and talent,” exclaimed Cedillo.

The Dump trump resolution was approved in Council today (12-0).

Councilmember Gil Cedillo currently represents the 1st Council District, which includes all or parts of the neighborhoods of Glassell Park, Cypress Park, Highland Park, Mt. Washington, Solano Canyon, Sycamore Grove, Elysian Park, Echo Park, Westlake, Angelino Heights, Temple Beaudry, Lafayette Park, Chinatown, Forgotten Edge, Lincoln Heights, Montecito Heights, Pico Union, Adams-Normandie, University Park, Mid Cities and Mac Arthur Park.
