Continues to Improve Public Safety in the Highland Park Area
May 10, 2016
WHAT: Traffic Signal Installation on Avenue 55/Figueroa Street
WHO: Councilmember Gil Cedillo, Council District 1
WHEN: Thursday, May 12th at 2:00 PM
WHERE: Avenue 55 and Figueroa Street, Los Angeles 90042
WHY: Councilmember Cedillo continues to improve public safety in Council District 1 with the installation of a traffic signal along North Figueroa. The City of Los Angeles was granted funds to implement Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) throughout the City. During the RRFB design for North Figueroa and Avenue 55, the Department of Transportation found that a full signal was warranted, however, there were insufficient grant funds for this project. Councilmember Cedillo identified additional funds to allow the signal to be constructed and address the critical pedestrian safety needs along this heavily utilized pedestrian and transit corridor.
