FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 28, 2015
WHAT: North Main Street Bridge Grand Opening
WHO: Councilmember Gil Cedillo, Council District; Deborah Weintraub, Chief Deputy City Engineer, LA City Bureau of Engineering
WHEN: Wednesday, July 29th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
WHERE: North Main Street Bridge (corner of Albion and Main, northeast corner of bridge)
WHY: The construction project, led by the Bureau of Engineering, took three years and included the concrete jacketing of the arch ribs, replacement of bridge deck and sidewalks, strengthening the spandrel walls, and replication of the original bridge railing and lampposts. Due to the historic nature of the bridge, mitigation measures were implemented to keep the integrity of the design, such as constructing a replica of the original bridge railing, lampposts and arch crown keystone.
