Los Angeles, CA - The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to pass Councilmember Gil Cedillo's resolution that supports any administrative and legislative action that would contest the Texas Federal District Court ruling suspending the President's executive action on Immigration.
On February 16, a federal judge blocked the President's executive actions on immigration that affected an estimated 5 million undocumented immigrants.
"Los Angeles is home to the largest number of families that will benefit from the President's executive action and we must take a stand to support them," stated Councilmember Gil Cedillo. "With the passage of this resolution, we continue to be will vocal and opposing the injunction and any actions that will impede the implementation of these important executive actions."
Recently, Councilmember Cedillo has sponsored legislation at the local level to establish linkages with non-profits who provide immigration services, and to include these types of services to immigration community in the city's relevant departments in anticipation of the implementation of the immigration executive order.
