WHAT: Councilmember Gil Cedillo along with Councilmember Curren Price and Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell will join leaders of the Salvadoran community to declare March 22 to March 28, 2015 as "The Week of Remembrance of Archbishop Oscar A. Romero of El Salvador". The week of remembrance will recognize the 35th anniversary of his martyrdom on March 24, 2015.

WHY: March 24, 2015 will mark the 35th anniversary of the assassination of Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero, the late Archbishop of San Salvador during the El Salvador civil war. The civil war led many Salvadorans to flee their country and seek refuge in the United States. As a result, Los Angeles became home to the largest concentration of Salvadorans outside of their homeland.
