WHY: Councilmember Gil Cedillo will celebrate the grand re-opening of the parking lot at Plaza de La Raza, located inside Lincoln Park. The project consists of a new parking lot at Lincoln Park, in front of the Plaza de la Raza building. It will provide a total of 30 parking stalls, including 2 ADA compliant spaces. The parking area is fenced with decorative panels, designed by Sonia Romero and supported by the Ahmanson Foundation. The project includes new landscaping, irrigation, lighting, and a seating area with benches facing the lake. The parking lot was designed with sustainable features, including permeable pavers, a storm-water filtration system to protect the lake from parking lot runoff, turf reduction for water conservation measures, and a pilot project: the asphalt top “Cool Seal” coating, which provides for greater cool-down effect.
