Cedillo to Announce Agreement for Metro Lofts
After Weeks of Negotiations with Landlord Meta Housing Corporation
Los Angeles—Councilmember Cedillo will announce an agreement with Meta Housing Corporation, the landlord at The Metro at Chinatown Senior Lofts. Councilmember Cedillo got involved immediately upon learning from constituents about a proposed 8% rent increase. Just last year, Councilmember Cedillo negotiated a rent moratorium at the same property. For a population that is on a fixed income, any rent increase can seem insurmountable, placing their livelihood in jeopardy.
Councilmember Cedillo will continue talks with Meta Housing Corporation and reveal the results at a press conference on Thursday, August 23rd, right before the September 1st rent increase deadline.
