Cedillo Celebrates New Summer Night Lights Site in CD1

Normandie Park Site Becomes First Addition to City Program Since 2011

WHAT: Celebration of New SNL Site: Normandie Park

WHO: Gilbert Cedillo, Councilmember, First District; Gandhy G. Diaz, SNL Program Representative; Captain David J. Kowalski, LAPD Olympic Division

WHEN: Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Normandie Recreation Center, 1550 S. Normandie Ave., LA, CA 90006

WHY: Councilmember Cedillo will join members of the community to celebrate the addition of Normandie Park to the Summer Night Lights (SNL) Program, becoming the first addition to the program since 2011. 

Summer Night Lights is a public/private partnership that brings together The GRYD Foundation, the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s GRYD Office, and the Department of Recreation & Parks to create safe, healthy and strong neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles during the summer season. SNL started in 2008 at 8 parks and in 2011 grew to 32 parks. SNL occurs Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7pm until 11pm, from June 29th through August 6th

Normandie Park is pleased to offer summer basketball and softball for SNL. Councilmember Cedillo will be joined by 400 adults and youth from the community.
