Los Angeles—Councilmember and Chair of the Housing Committee, Gil Cedillo, applauds the mayor’s announcement of the New Generation Fund expansion, which will leverage public and private funds to create, preserve and retrofit affordable housing in the City.
“I applaud the Mayor for prioritizing affordable housing preservation. Last week, I announced a $9 million dollar initiative in my district to preserve expiring affordable housing covenants. The housing crisis will not be solved by building our way out of it. Expanding the use of the New Generation Fund is a great effort towards our ongoing fight to preserve affordability citywide,” stated Councilmember Cedillo.
Councilmember Gil Cedillo currently represents the 1st Council District, which includes all or parts of the neighborhoods of Glassell Park, Cypress Park, Highland Park, Mt. Washington, Solano Canyon, Sycamore Grove, Elysian Park, Echo Park, Westlake, Angelino Heights, Temple Beaudry, Lafayette Park, Chinatown, Forgotten Edge, Lincoln Heights, Montecito Heights, Pico Union, Adams-Normandie, University Park, Mid Cities and Mac Arthur Park.
