Adding Transit Oriented Development and Affordable Housing in CD1

Los Angeles—Councilmember Gil Cedillo will host the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Blossom Plaza development in Chinatown, a development that was in the works for 15 years and was realized under the Councilmember’s leadership. Designed by Johnson Fain for Forest City Realty Trust, Blossom Plaza is a new transit-oriented, mixed-use development linking a highly accessible and pedestrian-friendly network of public open spaces to the Metro Gold Line Chinatown station. The plaza ignites a vibrant and culturally rich urban experience with 237 apartments, 20,000 square feet of ground level retail and restaurant space, and 19,000 square feet of public space which accommodates neighborhood events. 53 units in this development are affordable and boasts 175 public parking spaces.

As is customary with Forest City, upon completion of their projects, they continue their good neighbor policy of making charitable contributions local community organizations. Beneficiaries of the Blossom Plaza project include: Chinatown Service Center, East Wind Foundation for Youth, and F.A.C.E.S. Each nonprofit will receive a check as part of the ceremony.
