Cedillo to Celebrate Street Signal Installation on Avenue 51
Continues to Improve Public Safety in the Highland Park Area

Los Angeles—Councilmember Cedillo continues to improve public safety in Council District 1 with the installation of a full traffic signal along North Figueroa. North Figueroa has been identified as a High Injury Network (HIN) street, which has a high concentration of traffic collisions resulting in severe injuries. In support of the Mayor’s Vision Zero Initiative, which brings together transportation engineers, police officers, advocates, and policymakers to work towards creating safer streets, this is the latest safety improvement at the Councilmember’s request.

Since taking office, Councilmember Cedillo has partnered with LADOT to increase the amount of time for pedestrians to cross from one end of Figueroa to the other, installed two new traffic signals, and secured funding for rectangular rapid crosswalk beacons at three sites.
