Cedillo to Break Ground on Albion Riverside Park by LA River
Continuing to Add Green Space and Parks in Council District 1

Los Angeles—Councilmember Cedillo will be joined by Mayor Eric Garcetti, Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon, and the City Family to break ground on the much anticipated Albion Riverside Park. The six acre triangle-shaped project site is situated along the Los Angeles River, north of Main Street and south of Spring Street. In 2009, the City purchased the site which was formerly a Ross Swiss Dairy distribution center. Building demolition and soil remediation was completed in 2013.

The park includes storm water diversion and quality improvement features. In addition to the water quality improvements, the Downey Park will expand its open space which will be developed for recreational purposes and improved access to the LA River. The existing Downey Park baseball field and outdoor basketball court will also be improved. In addition, the project will add a new parking lot with permeable paving, walking and bike paths, interpretive graphics and signage, trees and shade structures, site landscaping and an open meadow area.
